James Rogers Brown was born on the 24 October 1870 to Thomas Rogers Brown and Catherine Rogers at Robertson Lane, Perth Road, Dundee, Angus, Scotland. Thomas is listed as a Joiner<\/p>\n

James emigrated to South Africa with his parents sometime after 1873.<\/p>\n

The family were at Lovedale from 1874 to 1877 at which time they moved to Blythswood from 1877 to +-1886.<\/p>\n

We know that James attended Lovedale College between 1886 and 1888.<\/p>\n

James married Annie Agnes Young at the All Saints Church in Kings Williamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa on the 29 April 1902.<\/p>\n

They went on to have four children, two of which were born in King Williamstown and the last two in Durban. Allan (1903)<\/a>, James (1909)<\/a>, Gwennyth (1911)<\/a>, Kenneth (1913)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

James Rogers Brown’s wife Annie Agnes Young<\/p><\/div>\n

James moved to Durban sometime after 1909 and before 1911. In Durban he worked for Dalton, Nuttall, and Voysey Ltd and lived at 1 Nola Court cnr. of Heather and Frere Roads in Durban.<\/p>\n

James died on the 18 April 1943 in Durban at home and is buried in the Stellawood Cemetery in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.<\/p>\n
